Consumer participation at all levels of health care has been shown to make a positive contribution to improving health outcomes. Health services should actively seek such involvement and it is important that this is done in a way that is conducive to constructive collaboration.
The Network's Consumer Reference Group was established late 2008 and it is the brief of the group to:
- Provide a forum to address cancer consumer related issues within the Northern Region
- Identify key regional cancer consumer priorities and provide recommendations
- Provide a consumer perspective into projects, service planning and other Network activities
Meeting frequency: The Consumer Reference Group meetings are held two monthly. The meeting dates for 2010 are: 6 May, 3 June, 5 August and 4 November.
